This year, I am memorizing a verse of scripture a week. It has been so rewarding and helpful. I must confess that my memorizing scripture during my 20 years as a Christian has been hit and miss, but this year has been different. Praise the Lord!
One of the first verses I memorized in the early years of my walk with the Lord was Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." This has been an important verse for me on several occasions. It serves as a great reminder that I need to trust God without any reservations. There are four characteristics of trust without reservations.
- Trust God Completely: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart."
- Trust God Exclusively: "Do not lean on your own understanding."
- Trust God Relationally: "In all your ways acknowledge him."
- Trust God Expectantly: "He will make straight your paths."
Lord, I trust you, but help me with my distrust. Help me to trust you without any reservations.
